While the Myst series is 2D I am trying to create a 3D door, so the 3D aspects have to be envisioned though the research, and I cannot rely on using the games to help with this part. I am focusing on the visual style and theme of Myst, mainly focusing on the buildings within Myst III: Exile.
The game has a steampunk theme mixed with some of the more ornate window designs of the art nouveau movement. Often exteriors as well as interiors have a late Victorian quality to them, which coincides with both styles.
Curves are often used within all the architecture and will be an important feature for my door design.

Door Project: Research 1
After receiving the brief I decided to pick a game series which I used to love and was one of the first games I played, the Myst series.
Due to being a graphic adventure game it relies heavily on the quality of the images, which are often visually stunning and highly distinctive.
